At Eden Church, we are blessed to have a plethora of partners. It is humbling and an honor to stand in solidarity and work alongside so many great organizations. Listed below are some of the amazing orgs with which we work on an ongoing weekly or monthly basis. While we would love to lift up all of our partnerships here, as busy as the Eden Church Team, members, and friends are, it would simply be impossible to capture them all. Umoja Health Partners are Community Coalitions initially formed to address the COVID-19 and health-related needs of underserved communities of color in the Bay Area. In Swahili, Umoja means "Unity" and refers to a concept of Oneness, a singular focus or mission. Umoja is the community, for the community. EUCC partners with Umoja in our vaccination efforts in Ashland.
Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center seeks to provide culturally competent healthcare to our area. TVHC has offices at Eden Church and participates in Compañeras initiatives, and partners with Comida para Cherryland with health clinics and promotores. EUCC also partners with TVHC in our vaccination efforts of Cherryland and South Hayward.
Starr King, also a member of Eden Area Interfaith Council, in working for justice in our community has been a great support to the Accompaniment Ministry. In past years, our youth groups have also mingled.
Restorative Pathways, formerly Ruby's Place, is an innovative nonprofit committed to ending domestic violence, human trafficking, and violent crime through hope, advocacy, and connection. EUCC partners with Restorative Pathways through our Newcomer Navigation Center and Community Resiliency coalition work.
Restaurants for the People of Chef José Andrés' World Central Kitchen is an ongoing response to the health, economic, and humanitarian crises stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic. This program is dedicated to tackling these crises on two fronts – at the same time providing fresh meals to communities in immediate need while also keeping small restaurants and food businesses open. WCK has partnered EUCC with a Mexican restaurant in Fruitvale, Oakland to provide meals for isolation supports in the Eden Area.
For almost 40 years, Resources for Community Development has created and preserved affordable housing for very low- and low-income individuals and families, to build community and enrich lives. RCD's presence in the Eden Area can best be seen at Ashland Place. EUCC and RCD are partnering together on various local community resiliency projects.
Regional Pacific Islander Taskforce addresses the lack of data and reporting on Pacific Islander (PI) population health and health disparities in different health departments across the Bay Area. RPIT serves as an advisory council to the directors of the health departments and their leadership. EUCC partners with RPIT in addressing vaccination disparities in San Lorenzo.
REACH has been helping youth and families weather the stresses of remote learning, racial injustice, and economic insecurity during a difficult time for lower-income communities of color. REACH honors youth power and resilience through a culture of safety, belonging, and possibility. EUCC partners with REACH in our Vaccination efforts in Ashland.
Padres Unidos de Cherryland is a Community-based organizing group working to promote safe and healthy initiatives in unincorporated Alameda County, particularly Cherryland. Eden Church serves as PU's fiscal sponsor.
Pacific School of Religion, a leader in social innovation education, is a UCC affiliated Interdenominational Seminary (1866), and an Ashoka U Changemaker Campus. Eden Church serves as a Community Engaged Learning site in their Field Education Department.
My Eden Voice is a group of passionate residents working to unite the communities of Ashland, Cherryland, Hayward Acres, and San Lorenzo. MEV serves to empower our communities of 60,000 strong with proper representation. EUCC and our ChYLI program partners with MEV in advocating and organizing for tenant protections.
Mustard Seed Immigration Law Project is a non-profit that provides assistance for legal representation of asylum-seekers and juveniles seeking special immigration status.
Eden Church and Ministerio Compañeras are partnering with Mission Asset Fund to bring financial education to first-gen Spanish-speaking immigrants. This partnership has brought the first Community Lending Circle to the Eden Area.
Mandela Partners, formerly Mandela MarketPlace, is a non-profit organization that works in partnership with local residents, family farmers, and community-based businesses to improve health, create wealth, and build assets through local food enterprises in low-income communities. We have partnered with Mandela via restaurants in the E. 14th Eatery + Kitchen (formerly Ashland Market & Café) during the COVID-19 crisis in order to get nutritious meals to our neighbors in need.
La Familia, a Latino organization, provides mental health and community services in our area. La Familia has offices at Eden Church. ChYLIs have partnered with their advocacy arm, Bay Area Strength Through Activism (BASTA).
Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity is a statewide California organization that connects clergy and people of faith to the work of social justice. EUCC partners with IM4HI in our work with accompanying newcomers and asylum-seekers.
Eden Church has a long-standing relationship with Hayward Unified School District, especially Cherryland Elementary. Eden Church partners with HUSD in providing supports to their Newcomer Coordinators and Family Engagement Specialists.
First Presbyterian Church Hayward, known for their ministry to the unhoused of Castro Valley and their Tiny Homes initiative, has been a critical partner in Accompaniment Ministry efforts. Support their Winter Shelter!
FESCO's mission is to support homeless families as they move from crisis to stability. FESCO has an office on Eden Church campus. Join with us as we participate in their FESCO Shelter Shuffle.
Eden Area Interfaith Council’s mission is to promote understanding and respect for all faiths and work together towards human rights, peace, justice, civic change, and freedom of religion. Eden Church is a founding member.
East Bay Community Foundation partners with donors, social movements, and the community to eliminate structural barriers, advance racial equity, and transform political, social, and economic outcomes for all who call the East Bay Home. EBCF has provided grants for our Census outreach as well as COVID-19 relief efforts and direct response.
East Bay Agency for Children’s transformational programs help children, youth, and families recover from trauma. EBAC facilitates grief groups in English and Spanish at Eden Church. Trauma-informed counseling trainings also occur at Eden Church
Danville UCC is one of our sister congregations. Danville is a pillar of support for the Accompaniment Ministry, and Comida para Cherryland. We look forward to more opportunities for combined youth events!
Congregation Shir Ami in Castro Valley is an intimate, inclusive, intergenerational Reform Jewish community that welcomes interfaith families. Shir Ami is a member of Eden Area Interfaith Coalition and is a pillar of support for Comida para Cherryland.
Castro Valley Pride's purpose is to create a safe and welcoming space for the LGBTQ members of our shared community. Eden Church is proud to be part of Castro Valley Pride's annual Pride event in the Castro Valley!
Castro Valley Community Alliance is a collaborative group of Castro Valley community and educational leaders, students, and families advocating for compassion, understanding and acceptance. Participate in our film screenings, panels, and unity walks!
EUCC partners with Alameda County Social Services Agency in our Emergency Food Delivery program, delivering more than 50,000 culturally-appropriate prepared meals since the onset of the pandemic.
EUCC holds Case Investigation, Contact Tracing, Quarantine and Isolation Supports, and Vaccination and Healthcare Education and Outreach service contracts through Alameda County Public Health Department, serving the greater urban unincorporated Alameda County.
Eden UCC contracts with Alameda County Health Care Services Agency in order to provide Cherryland with its very own Newcomer Navigation Center staffed with a clinical case manager, ensuring extra supports for Eden Area UIY and CMF populations.
Alameda County Community Food Bank is the sole provider of food for our bimonthly food distribution, Comida para Cherryland. Veggies are on them and we are able to purchase protein through them for the community at an incredible rate.
