A Season For Everything

Autumn is such a strange time. On one hand, the days are growing shorter, the garden is way past its prime, and the leaves on the trees are starting to crisp and change color. A feel that something is ending is in the air. On the other hand, the new school years starts with new backpacks, new teachers, and the hope of new friends. And, the new church year, which officially began Jul 1, really kicks off as families return from vacations and our program planning starts in earnest. There is a sense that something new is just beginning.

The Book of Ecclesiastes tells us that for everything, there is a season. If so, then autumn must be the season for honoring endings and celebrating fresh starts. That’s certainly true this autumn at Eden Church.

We are saying goodbye to our wonderful Office Administrator Krista Coburn as she heads off to graduate school just as we are welcoming our new Operations Manager Diana Zankowsky. (See page _.)

We are saying goodbye to our traditional choir and choir rehearsals just as we are beginning a new Worship Practices team to help us explore new styles of both choral and instrumental music to enhance our worship. (See page _).

We are saying goodbye to our paper-based curriculum for church school just as we are introducing a new video-based curriculum from Sparkhouse which we hope will spark our kids further on their faith journey. (See page __).

These are just a few of the many changes we will see this fall at Eden. Of course, many things we love remain the same, including our commitment to the Cherryland community through our Comida, Computer Café, and special events like the Oct 5 Hayward School Board Candidates’ Forum.

So, put away your swimsuit and pull your fall sweaters out of storage. Come and celebrate the season of change with us here at Eden Church.
